Another pioneering event on Climate Change Resilience was organized by the Region of Western Greece (RWG) at the Archaeological Museum of Patras on 11/12/2025, within the framework of the Path4PDE project.
The event focused on three thematic axes:
(i) the flood sector, including a presentation of the innovative pilot action for the delimitation of the Inachos River;
(ii) Agriculture, with a presentation of the HEU Smarter project; and
(iii) good practices in Water Resources Management, as derived from European and pilot projects in which the University of Patras participates.
At the opening of the event, the Deputy Regional Governor for Sustainable Development, Energy, Spatial Planning and Environment, Mr. Linos Bletsas, underlined that the RWG is systematically engaged in climate change adaptation, being the only Region in Greece selected to participate in the Pathways2Resilience project, thus seeking the safest pathway towards climate resilience.
At the same time, he praised the overall collaborative effort with the University of Patras, University of Peloponnese and the personnel of the RWG, emphasizing that environmental actions are multifaceted and strengthened through the active participation of citizens and institutions in the co-creation of transformative pathways for climate resilience.
The views of all stakeholders participating in the event were recorded through an interactive digital questionnaire, creating a valuable repository of perspectives and proposals for future RWG actions on climate change.
The event also included addresses by the Deputy Regional Governor for Rural Development, Mr. Andreas Filias, while lectures were delivered by Mrs. Anastasia Pyrgaki (Directorate of Development Planning, RWG), Mrs. Sofia Karveli (Department of Regional Policy Planning), Dr. Stefanos Papazisimou (Department of Climate Resilience and Spatial Planning, RWG), Mr. Nikolaos Masikas (Directorate of Technical Services of Aitoloakarnania), Dr. Spyridon Papaspyrou (Directorate of Agricultural Economy, University of Western Macedonia), Professor Ierotheos Zacharias (Department of Civil Engineering, University of Patras), Professor Christakis Paraskevas (Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Patras), Professor Pavlos Avramidis (Department of Geology, University of Patras), and Dr. Marina Kouta (Department of Civil Engineering, University of Patras).
