Joint Working Meeting between the PATH4PDE and LIFE-IP AdaptInGR Projects

As part of the implementation of the European project “PATH4PDE – The Region of Western Greece on the Road to Climate Resilience”, a joint working meeting was held on 18 July 2025 with the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project at the Ministry of Environment and Energy in Athens.
The meeting aimed to present the progress of the project, explore synergies with the national policy on climate resilience, and support the Region of Western Greece in implementing its Regional Climate Change Adaptation Plan (RCCAP).
The PATH4PDE project, implemented under the Pathways2Resilience (EIT Climate-KIC) initiative, focuses on co-designing transformation pathways to strengthen the Region of Western Greece’s resilience to the impacts of climate change.
During the meeting, several key topics were presented and discussed:
- The presentation of the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project, highlighting its objectives, progress, and role in supporting the implementation of national and regional climate adaptation policies.
- The presentation of the PATH4PDE project, outlining its methodology, pilot actions, and contribution to building climate resilience at the regional level.
- A review of the main vulnerability sectors in the Region of Western Greece, identifying priority areas such as water resources, agriculture, ecosystems, infrastructure, and health.
- A mapping of available financial instruments for each vulnerability sector, examining opportunities for funding through national, European, and private mechanisms.
- The proposed structure of the Regional Resilience Plan, with a focus on participatory design, integration of scientific evidence, and practical implementation pathways.
- The exploration of synergies with relevant organizational units within the Ministry of Environment and Energy and other ministries, aiming to ensure coherence between regional initiatives and national strategies.
The discussions emphasized the importance of alignment between regional plans and national strategies, as well as the value of interdisciplinary collaboration, participatory approaches, and the effective use of funding mechanisms to bridge policy, research, and local action.
Participants included representatives from the Region of Western Greece (Project Coordinator), the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the University of Patras, and the University of the Peloponnese.
The Deputy Regional Governor for Sustainable Development, Spatial Planning, Environment and Energy, Linos Bletsas, stated:
“The Region of Western Greece consistently stands at the forefront,  even at the European level, on key issues related to Climate Change and environmental protection.
 Through this working meeting, we aim to achieve the highest possible level of coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Energy, as well as with our partner organizations, so that the results of our ongoing efforts yield the greatest possible benefits for the citizens and productive sectors of our Region.”
