The kick off meeting of the PathPDE project partnership members took place on December 11, 2024, in a meeting room of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Patras. The Region of Western Greece (RWG) participates in the project as the Lead Partner/Coordinator, and with the involvement of the University of Peloponnese and the University of Patras, it aims to enhance climate resilience and invest in environmental innovation. It is worth noting that the Pathway2Resilience project includes 40 regions from across Europe, selected from a pool of 164 applicants, with the Region of Western Greece being the only representative from Greece.
The meeting provided valuable insights into the steps ahead for strengthening climate resilience in the Region of Western Greece, setting the stage for impactful actions and collaboration over the next six months.
More specifically, it focused on discussing the various actions related to the project’s first key deliverable, expected to be completed by June 2025—the Climate Resilience Baseline Assessment. During the session, participants analyzed the main components of the assessment framework, the current ranking of the Region of Western Greece in different regional resilience systems, and the timeline for the upcoming six-month activities. Special emphasis was placed on engaging key stakeholders who either influence or are affected by decisions related to climate resilience, as well as on strategies for effectively involving them in the process.
Representing the Region of Western Greece were Dr. Stefanos Papazisimou, Ms. Maria Adamopoulou, Ms. Georgia Papoutsi, and Mr. Konstantinos Papathanasiou. From the University of Patras, Prof. Em. Yorgos Stephanedes and Dr. Marina Kouta participated, while the University of Peloponnese was represented by Prof. Spiros Sirmakessis and Mr. Panos Papadatos.
Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to work towards a more sustainable and resilient future for our region!
